Jesus and hospitality (624 hits)

Luke 14:15-24 Jesus at a social occasion where the host invited those whom he rubbed shoulders with, the rich wealthy, those with social status. those who would make him look good. The Lord saw that the host did not understand hospitality. Jesus took the liberty to rebuke him. Now that's not the thing to do after all Jesus was the guest here, but Jesus rebuked the host for using people for his own ministerial gain. His instruction to the folks was this. "Don't take the highest place when it is offered to you, because when someone more honorable than you comes into the room this guy will give your place to another and you will be asked to step down and take a lower seat. Maybe you see this in church right! You are "used" until the church gets bigger then you are pushed aside when a brother who the leader knows turns up and you are . are asked to step down. You say nothing, because its not your nature. but you feel cheap and used. It happens in churches yes churches! Take note my friend, Jesus said, For I say to you that "none of these men you invited shall taste my supper" (V24) It is to people like you, the poor the lame and the blind that the Lord chooses to share the "bread of the kingdom" (Luke 14v15). Declare today, I will have the Lord's portion and The lord's favor.... I will...and so will YOU! www.imagebreakers.com
