The Department of Radiation Oncologyat the University of Miami,Miller School of Medicineand Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Centerhas positionsfor American Board of Radiology board eligible/certified candidates. The candidates areexpected to be engaged in clinical, research, teaching, and administrative activities.
Thedepartmentcovers five sites of service andhasastrongteamapproach andpatient centric culture. The physicianwillhaveakeyrole inspecificdiseasesitemultidisciplinary teams,typically involving a major and minor site of specialization,as directed by the Chair andClinical Division Chief.The candidateswillberesponsible forthecoordinationof care with otherservicesand relevant sites in theUHealthnetwork.Faculty disease site preferences are considered in such assignments.
Faculty members areexpected tobe familiar with andcomply withdepartment procedures andpolicies, andhave an active role in Quality Improvement activities for the department.Faculty members arealsoexpected to be familiar with the UniversityFacultyManual, which is available online.
The candidate willparticipatein department academic and educational activities, such as morning teaching conferences, morbidity and mortalityconference, weekly new patientconference, and departmental and cancer center retreats. Responsibilities also include active participation in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows. Faculty are expected to give at least one department grandroundsyearly and to lecture the residents twice during the year.
Physicianscientistsmaybenefitfromstart-up support and have protected time for research activities.Suchcandidateswill be expected to report progressoftheirresearch projects on a regular basis.
